I specialize in the art of yarnpainting, a technique rooted in the rich cultural heritage of the Wixarikas (people) from
northwestern Mexico. This community holds a profound belief that everything in existence is sacred, and their art is a reflection of this deeply connection.
Yarnpainting is a meticulous and meditative process. It begins with applying a thin layer of bee wax to the object that will serve as the canvas. Then, coloured threads are carefully pressed onto the waxed surface, creating intricate patterns that reflect the artist's vision.
This process requires immense patience and dedication, with each piece taking hours, weeks, or even months to complete, depending on its size and level of detail.
Yarn painting for me it is a profound journey, it is a way of praying, a means to connect with the divine, and a way to share a story.
Introducing the Amulet of the Earth, a unique and powerful talisman crafted with 122 stitches. Designed to be filled with your personal intentions and worn close to your heart to amplify its vibration.
Each amulet carries a piece of nature, incorporating sand, small stones, plants, and flowers from the rivers and lakes of the Swiss Alps, as well as blessings from diverse landscapes—forests, jungles, deserts, mountains, and volcanoes.
The journey of creating the Amulet of the Earth began with my first cross-stitch project, featuring the symbol of the Peyote.
After months of dedication, on the night I completed it, I dreamt of the Blue Deer, who spoke to me and said:
"Take a petal of this peyote flower as a reminder of my heart, to guide you towards the path of good living."
To the Wixárika people, the Blue Deer, or Tamatsi Kauyumari, is a sacred and central figure in their spiritual traditions. He is considered a guide, a messenger of the gods, and the first shaman. The Blue Deer is believed to have led the ancestors of the Wixárika people to the sacred land of Wirikuta, where they discovered peyote (hikuri), the sacred cactus that connects them to the divine.
In Wixárika cosmology, Tamatsi Kauyumari is associated with wisdom, spiritual enlightenment, and transformation.
Since the creation of the first amulet in 2013, hundreds of individuals worldwide have embraced this vision, carrying their amulets to various corners of the planet.
If you are one of these proud bearers, we invite you to take a photograph of your amulet in a place that holds special meaning to you—whether it be powerful, beautiful, magical, peaceful, or simply a favorite spot.
Share your photo with us to help weave a colorful net of prayers, not just through images, but through the power of your intention. #travelingamulet
